Public Sector & Culture

What if public spaces were not merely managed, but genuinely thought through?

A bus stop that is more than just a shelter. A school that is more than just a building. Together with cities, local authorities and regions, we develop places that people don’t just pass by, but that touch them – because vibrant places come into being when someone asks the right question: What should it feel like here?

Our services

Public projects become viable when different perspectives are brought together at an early stage. We facilitate and structure the dialogue between the administration, politicians, user groups and other stakeholders. Workshops and participatory formats help to identify requirements, reconcile interests and communicate complex planning issues in an accessible way. This creates transparent processes that support decision-making and strengthen acceptance of and identification with a project.

Good decisions require a sound basis. We analyse the potential, requirements and framework conditions of public projects and assess their spatial, functional and economic feasibility. By examining different usage scenarios and development options, we make it possible to compare the various possibilities and their consequences. This provides a sound basis for decision-making for local authorities, towns and municipalities – for further planning, political consultation, investments or funding applications.

Neighbourhoods that are great places to live are created when buildings, open spaces, land uses and community life are considered as a whole. We analyse existing structures and develop spatial strategies for neighbourhoods and sites. In doing so, we place land use, access, mobility, the quality of the public environment and the various stages of development within a long-term context. This results in robust concepts that unlock existing potential, enable new uses and leave scope for future developments.

Public spaces take on greater significance when people do not merely pass through them, but actually use them and identify with them. We develop places for people to meet, interact and participate – ranging from squares and public facilities to cultural venues, town halls, schools and ‘third places’. The needs of different user groups and the existing spatial qualities form the starting point for this. This results in spaces that are highly pleasant to spend time in, which foster a sense of community and further develop existing places through new uses and creative impetus.

Places and institutions need an identity that makes their distinctive characteristics visible and understandable. Working alongside local authorities, regions and public bodies, we refine their values, potential and positioning, and translate these into a distinctive visual and communicative language. Strategy, corporate design, communication and digital applications are all interwoven in this process. This creates a consistent brand identity that provides guidance, fosters a sense of identification and strengthens the long-term perception of a place or an institution.

Wayfinding is more than just signage – it shapes how a place is understood and experienced. We develop information and wayfinding systems for public buildings, schools, campuses and complex spatial structures. Wayfinding, typography, colour, symbols and information are tailored to the use, architecture and identity of the place. Through the interplay of communication design, architecture, interior design and product design, we create systems that support wayfinding, accessibility and user-friendliness, whilst also contributing to a recognisable spatial language.
